Bel Power Solutions’ new MELCHER HP Series dc-dc converter (4TE), with an input voltage range greater than 10:1, offer up to 192 W with typical efficiency up to 93% over input and load range with no derating over the operating ambient temperature range of -40° to 70°C. Just one power supply covers all nominal battery voltages from 24 V to 110 V, particularly suited for railway applications. The continuous input voltage range is 16.8 V - 137.5 V with dynamic transient deviations to 12.5 V and 154 V for 2 seconds respectively.
Output covers 5 V to 96 V in single, dual, triple or quad output configurations, and standard features include current share, 10 ms interruption time, reverse polarity protection, inrush current limitation, over-voltage and user-programmable under-voltage lockout, remote on/off and adjustable output voltage. The MELCHER HP Series is packaged in a rugged cassette case with a variety of electrical and mechanical accessories available, including a universal mounting bracket for DIN Rail and chassis mounting, a mounting plate for wall mounting and a front panel kit for accommodating 2 HP units for a 19" DIN rack with 6U, 5TE.
The KILOVAC KCS03 high-voltage contactor from TE Connectivity, featuring an integrated current sensor with current trip function, eliminate the need for discrete current sensors in EV, power distribution and energy storage systems. Their small size and flexible configuration are particularly suited for rugged applications. The sensor function includes a programmable trip, which allows immediate, delayed, or disabled trip. The contactors are hermetically sealed for reliable performance in most harsh, explosive and corrosive environments.
The current-sensing contactors feature a 600 A current rating, 28 - 600 Vdc, and a 1 Form X, SPST-NO DM contact arrangement. KILOVAC KCS03 current-sensing contactors can be mounted in any orientation and include bidirectional switching capabilities to accommodate a range of applications. The SH Series squared gas discharge tube is designed by Littelfuse to provide high levels of protection against fast-rising transients caused by lightning disturbances. Measuring 5.0 × 5.0 × 4.2 mm, the series provides 5 kA surge capability and a ≤0.7 pF off-state capacitance value that minimizes insertion loss and does not vary as the signal voltage varies, so it does not demodulate the signal of interest. These features provide protection of electrical, multimedia and communication equipment against overvoltage transients in high speed, wide bandwidth applications such as: G.fast, xDSL, 10GbE and 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet port protection; coaxial cable protection in satellite; CATV equipment; industrial automation interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485 and RS-232; and ac power line protection in power inverter and VFDs for the renewable energy market.
The square body and terminals of the series attempts to simplify the pick and place process during automated PCB manufacturing, as compared with the use of cylindrical body GDTs. SH Series GDTs are available in tape and reel packaging in quantities of 900.
Janz Tec’s new emPC-A/RPI3 industrial controller, based on the Raspberry Pi 3, is an enhanced version of the previously released emPC-A/RPI2. With extra features that expand the usefulness of the Raspberry computer for industrial applications, such as a CANbus interface, the product has been designed especially for automation and control applications. With its increased performance and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi interfaces, the controller can also be used to create networks for mobile machines. Raspbian Jessie Light is the recommended OS and CODESYS control software compatibility is offered, as well as CANbus and other communication features.
Raspberry Pi resources include 24 V / 15 W power supply, optically-isolated CAN interface, real-time clock, digital I/O and an additional RS232/RS485 interface. Digi International’s new Digi XBee Cellular LTE Cat 1 embedded modems, designed to help avoid FCC and carrier end-device certifications, enable integration of secure LTE CAT 1 cellular connectivity into M2M and IoT designs. The modems operate at 3.3 V and offer sleep and deep-sleep modes optimized for solar and/or battery-powered applications.
The devices offer transparent serial mode and an API mode with structured frames for transmitting embedded serial data via TCP, UDP or SMS over the cellular network. A bundled data plan is available, with the modem shipping fully ready to communicate over a cellular network. The modems utilize Digi’s TrustFence security features, which include Secure Boot, encrypted security keys, secure JTAG and SSL/TLS 1.2 cryptographic protocols.
The Digi XBee Cellular LTE Cat 1 development kit includes the embedded modem, development board, an activated Verizon SIM card and six months of free cellular data service. SMC Diode Solutions is now offering the SD560B general-purpose high-voltage SMD rectifier in a DO-214AA size format. Measuring 2.5 x 4.65 x 3.75 mm and weighing approximately 0.68 grams, the device features an average rectified output current rating of 5 A continuous, a 600 V reverse voltage rating and a 200 A forward surge rating.
Primarily specified as an input rectifier to convert alternating line voltage to usable dc, the device is also appropriate as a freewheeling diode or reverse polarity protection device in high voltage regulated and switchmode power supplies; UPSs; adapters/chargers; dc-dc converters; industrial ballasts; and lighting, temperature and motor speed control circuits. The CS43130 MasterHIFI audio DAC from Cirrus Logic combines low power consumption with a headphone amplifier for high-fidelity music content and playback through mobile devices. The device includes a non-oversampling emulation mode, which is believed to contribute to the emotion of audio by providing a more natural, euphonic sound similar to valve amplifiers or vinyl records. The CS43130, as well as the DAC-only CS4399 for professional audio, uses 512 individual DACs per channel in an analog/digital filter array to help to filter out the unwanted noise while providing high jitter immunity.
Consuming 23 mW of power with a THD + N of -108 dB and a 130 dB dynamic range, the product is designed to focus on superior hi-fi audio playback without draining the battery. The onboard low noise, ground-centered headphone amplifier provides proprietary ac impedance detection to support headphone fingerprinting. The amplifier also supports adaptive post processing for customer bundled and third party headsets.

The LinkSwitch-TN2 rugged offline buck switcher IC is designed by Power Integrations to survive wide fluctuations in mains supply. The device, which may be configured as a buck, buck-boost or a non-isolated flyback converter, offers increased accuracy, efficiency and no-load performance to non-isolated off-line power supplies with up to 360 mA output current.
The high reliability ICs incorporate new safety features including input over- and under-voltage protection, and a rugged MOSFET with a 725 V breakdown voltage.
